Making daily social media posts and struggling to keep up with your other duties because of it? 😩
How about forgetting to post altogether because you were hit right in the face with an emergency the second you walked in the door?🥊
There’s a lot of things that can keep you from making a social media post every day but I’m going to introduce you to the one solution that prevents them all...keep reading! 👀
Hey everyone, it’s Tom Sye your Police Marketing FTO, and this week let’s talk about making your life easier, shall we…seems like a pretty awesome topic, if you asked me but what do I know about how busy a Police Recruiter is? 🤣
Look, I know you’ve got a ton going on and when you add making a daily social media post to the slate, it puts even more of a strain on your already busy schedule. I get it…I’ve been there. 🙋♂️
Here’s the thing though…if you’ve learned anything from me over the past two years, please let it be that you need to be regularly posting on social media if you want to be successful in recruiting like it’s 2025. Seriously, please let it be that. 🙏
With that being said, the mortal enemy of being successful in recruiting police candidates on social media is inconsistency and that’s what happens when you forget to make a post or throw one up whenever you get around to it…whatever time that may be. 😳
The good news is…there’s an easy solution to fix all of that. It’s called post scheduling. 🙌
What is it?
Post scheduling is a feature that every major social media platform has and allows you to set up your social media posts in advance for weeks or even several months depending on the platform itself. 🤯
Here’s some more good news…post schedulers are super simple to use and are very effective in posting your content when you want them to. They rarely fail to make the post as scheduled and when it happens it’s usually because you goofed up and put PM instead of AM or vice versa. 🤦
You want even better news? Every single one of the big platforms allows you to do this completely free. That’s right. Your life, made simpler, for the low cost of absolutely nothing. 😎
Is there an option to schedule all platforms at once?
Yes. There are many services out there that charge you a small or in some cases a not so small fee to schedule your social media posts across multiple platforms in one convenient place. Hoot Suite comes to mind and is probably the most popular option. 🤑
You simply make one caption, drop your photo or video in, one time, in one place, and the service posts to all your platforms for you at the date and time you choose. At first glance, this seems really appealing. It’s a one stop shop and that’s the alure of their sales pitch after all. Look how easy we make it for you. 😇
But for me, and I’ve tested many scheduling services of the years, taking an extra literal five minutes to schedule your posts on each individual platform, even if it means copying the same caption and photo in eight different places, is the way to go. 👌
Here's why...
In the name of full disclosure here, I have no scientific evidence or data to back this up…don’t ask me for the internet source…it’s me…this is just a good old fashioned cop hunch developed through years of running a social media account and watching what works… 🕵️
When you schedule your post through the individual platform as opposed to a service…your engagement rate is going to go up. In my experiences, more people seem to see it, more people seem to like and comment on it, and more people seem to share it when it was scheduled directly from the platform. 📈
Again, as far as I know there are no studies on this and I’ve said this a million times, no one really knows how the algorithm works…it just feels like it performs better when it comes directly from the platform scheduler. 💯
Ultimately, whichever way you decide to tackle the problem is up to you, but it’s not going to take you long to realize what a gigantic timesaver post scheduling is. Try it out...schedule out a bunch of posts for a week or two in advance and let me know which method seems to work best for you. 🤔
