Police recruiting content calendar graphic showing structured social media post ideas that help agencies stay consistent and attract applicants

If you’ve ever opened up a full month of police recruiting content ideas and thought to yourself…this is great, but where do I even start…there’s a really good chance you’re about to do what most agencies do…nothing. Or at least nothing consistently. 😔

The good news is…I’m here to get you out of that loop…keep reading. 👀

Hey everyone, it’s Tom Sye your Police Marketing FTO, and this week I want to talk to you about something that happens all the time when it comes to police recruiting on social media…and that’s having plenty of ideas, but still not getting anything posted. 😕

Look, on the surface, having a full content calendar feels like a win. You’ve got direction, you’ve got options, and it feels like you’re finally getting organized with your recruiting efforts. 😎

But then reality kicks in. You get busy, other things take priority, and instead of making progress…you end up spinning your wheels trying to figure out what to post first. 😵‍💫

This is where most agencies get stuck…and it’s usually because they don’t have a clear set of police recruiting strategies guiding what they’re doing. 💯

So, with that being said, I want to make this crystal clear here for you…and it’s something that’s very important for you to realize…

This doesn’t happen because you’re not trying…it’s because you’re overthinking it. 🤯

Listen, police recruiting on social media in 2026 isn’t about posting more…it’s about posting with purpose. 💪

So instead of trying to tackle all 31 days this month, that’s the goal but let’s start small here, let’s simplify things and focus on three posts that will actually help you connect with your audience and start attracting applicants right away...

Police Recruiting Social Media Content Idea 1: National Fitness Day (May 3)

This is an opportunity to show applicants what preparation actually looks like. Not just the standards, not just the requirements…but real people putting in the work. Short form video, that’s video under 90 seconds in length, is your best play here. Show your officers training, running, working out, and yes…even enjoying it. 🏋️‍♂️🏋️‍♀️

And here’s where I’d take it a step further…don’t just show the workout, explain it. Have someone talk through what they’re doing and why it matters for the testing process. Keep it simple, keep it real, and most importantly, keep it short. 🤏

As an added bonus, you can even turn this into a quick series throughout the month. 💡

Keep in mind…what you’re really doing with this post is answering a question every applicant has…can I do this? And when they see people like them doing it, that answer starts to become yes and your police recruiting improves. 📈

Police Recruiting Social Media Content Idea 2: Mother’s Day (May 10)

A chance to humanize your agency?  You better believe we’re jumping all over that and I I’m not talking about just throwing up a graphic and calling it a day. I’m talking about showing the moms that work for you. Photos, carousel posts, even short videos of them with their kids. 👩‍👧‍👦

If you want to make this one hit even harder, add a short caption or quote from them about balancing the job and family life. Nothing scripted, nothing overproduced…just real. That authenticity is what people connect with. 🫶

Remember…recruiting is a people business, and this is one of the easiest ways to show your audience that the people behind the badge have real lives, real families, and real support. That matters to your female applicants way more than you think and is how you get better results from your police recruiting. 🙌

Police Recruiting Social Media Content Idea 3: National Smile Day (May 31)

Now this one might seem simple…but it’s one of the most powerful things you can post because smiles signal happiness!  Here’s what you do…get a bunch of photos of your people smiling…and I’m talking real smiles…not staged ones.  📸

Again, don’t overthink this one. These can be as simple as someone sitting in their patrol car, in the briefing room, engaging in community interactions…or whatever…just find someone smiling and capture it. 😁

Trust me, the more natural it is, the better it’s going to perform. 👌

Because whether you realize it or not, like I said at the beginning of this one…smiles send a signal. It tells potential applicants that people are happy working there. And when they see that, they start to picture themselves in that same environment. That’s attraction marketing at its core and a key tenant of effective police recruiting. 🧠

OK…if you’ve been sitting there wondering where to start this month…you’ve now got that covered. Use these three social media content ideas, get them posted, and build from there. Remember…at the end of the day, most agencies yes…are posting…but very few of them are recruiting. That’s a big difference in winning with police recruiting! 🏆️

Now…if you want help building posts that actually connect with people, stop the scroll, and turn your social media into something that brings applicants in instead of just filling space…you’re in luck because that’s exactly what I teach inside my Police Recruiting Social Media Driving School. 🚗💨
